Management of Respiratory Failure

What is Respiratory Failure?

Respiratory failure occurs when the lungs cannot provide enough oxygen to the body or remove enough carbon dioxide. It can develop suddenly (acute) or gradually (chronic) and may result from conditions such as pneumonia, COPD, ARDS, or neuromuscular weakness.

How is it Diagnosed?

Diagnosis involves blood gas testing, pulse oximetry, chest imaging, and evaluation of underlying lung or heart conditions.

How is it Treated?

Treatment depends on the severity and cause. It may include:

  • Oxygen therapy
  • Noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Medications to reduce inflammation, treat infection, or improve breathing
  • Supportive care and close monitoring in the ICU

Our team uses advanced ventilator strategies and individualized care plans to optimize lung function and recovery.
